A leaked image on Chinese social media appears to show the design for a sequel to the iPhone SE, alongside a document purporting to be from one of Apple’s manufacturing partners.
The picture features four rear shells for what one site is calling the iPhone SE 2017.
Unlike the metal finish of the current iPhone SE, which featured the same design template as the iPhone 5s, the SE 2017 seems to be made from toughened glass.
Leakers suggest this could be the same material used for the display of the Apple Watch.
Such a move would tally with recent rumours suggesting Apple’s more expensive, top–end iPhone 8 will feature an all–glass finish, much like that of the iconic iPhone 4.
While this news nugget is somewhat out there, it may not be beyond Apple to release a new iPhone SE to go alongside the rumoured iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus handsets, as well as the iPhone 8.
