Apple is priming a new, updated version of the iPhone SE for launch in late August.
That’s according to a source speaking with French Apple watching site iGeneration. They say that Apple will reveal the new iPhone SE 2 just weeks before the long–awaited arrival of the iPhone 8.
Immediate concerns were raised about the report, citing the fact that Apple would be unlikely to hold a special event or launch a new product in the run–up to its most important unveiling in years.
It has also been pointed out that the iPhone SE 2 would be based on internal iPhone 7 specs but at a cheaper price. If that was the case, it would hamper sales of what would at the time still be Apple’s flagship smartphone.
Talk of an iPhone SE 2 has been swirling for some time. However, with Apple appearing to focus on the high end of the market, it seems doubtful it will be shown off any time soon.
