Virgin Media is expanding its Wi-Fi services by adding customers' Hubs to its network of hotspots.
This means each customer's Hub will become a Wi-Fi hotspot for other customers, who will be able to access the network for free via the Virgin Media app.
Customers are under no obligation to join the Wi-Fi network and can opt out by altering the preferences in their online Virgin Media account.
However, the provider has assured customers that adding their Hub to its Wi-Fi network will not affect the internet connection they are paying for.
"To add it to our network, we'll switch on a separate connection to the Hub in your home," Virgin Media said.
"This means the broadband you pay for will stay exclusively yours and remain just as secure."
Virgin Media has 5,080,100 broadband subscribers, as of September 2017.
