Eclipse Internet has successfully campaigned to have a BT upgrade at the Exeter Castle telephone exchange.

Homes in the area will now benefit from up to 40Mb fibre-to-the-cabinet super-fast broadband.

Commenting on the development, Eclipse's director Clodagh Murphy said: "We are very excited about the enabling of the Exeter Castle exchange and the significance for our many residential and business customers living within the areas of the city that this serves.

"We have already started receiving calls from a number of people wondering how they can get fibre broadband to their home or business."

She added that the broadband provider aims to deliver the service within ten days of a customer placing an order.

Eclipse recently launched its own range of fibre optic broadband packages with prices starting at £21.50 for a 10GB usage allowance and ranging to £59 a month for an unlimited package.

All packages have download speeds of up to 40Mb and for £5 extra a month users can access upload speeds of 10Mb.
