The iPhone 16 Plus was designed as a larger, more affordable alternative to the Pro models, featuring a 6.7-inch OLED display, dual-lens cameras, and a generous battery life. In contrast, the iPhone Air is all about thinness. At just 5.6 mm thick and weighing around 145 g, it’s the lightest, slimmest iPhone yet, making the Plus look bulky.

The differences go beyond design. The iPhone Air also features a 6.5-inch 120Hz ProMotion display, Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, and 12 GB of RAM — upgrades that should make it more powerful and smoother to use than the iPhone 16 Plus, which was limited to 60Hz and the A18 chip. However, those gains come with trade-offs: the Air has just a single rear 'fusion' camera compared with the dual system on the 16 Plus, and a smaller battery, although Apple claims it has all-day battery life. Compare this with the Plus’s 4,400 mAh battery. In short, while the iPhone 16 Plus prioritised size and battery life, the iPhone Air focuses on sleek design and a premium feel, even if it means sacrificing some practicality.
