Visa or MasterCard?

MasterCard and Visa are the names of the global companies who manage credit cards. They can both be used around the world.

Travelling with your card

If you're thinking of travelling, check which type of card is more prevalent in the countries you'll visit. MasterCard and Visa credit cards are both internationally recognised, but one might be a better choice than the other depending on the country you wish to use it in.

About Visa credit cards

Visa credit cards are accepted in 29 million merchant locations and Visa cardholders have access to more than 1.2 million ATMs worldwide. Visa also sponsors the Olympics and Paralympics.

Verified by Visa

Visa recently introduced 'the Verified by Visa' scheme to tackle fraud when giving your details on the internet. This service protects your Visa card details with a password, but is currently in its infancy with only a handful of retailers carrying the scheme.

Choosing the right credit card

Whether you'd prefer Visa or MasterCard, you will need to shop around to decide which card is the best for you. Interest rates vary significantly between cards, so it's worth making sure you're getting a good deal before you sign up.

Confused? Don't worry, we will help you sieve through all the different credit cards and find the best one to suit your needs.
