The digital revolution in your region
Use our impartial comparison service to find out which digital TV options are available in your area. Remember, once switchover happens, the coverage of digital TV through an aerial (Freeview) will increase significantly.
Available nationally
The biggest providers of digital TV at the moment are ntl and Sky, followed by Freeview. Sky and ntl offer packages that provide equipment and monthly subscription channels. Freeview offers a way of accessing public service channels without paying a subscription charge, once you have a digitally enabled TV and aerial. There is a range of smaller, regional digital TV providers that could offer a better deal for you. Use our digital TV comparison service to see your options.
Freeview
Freeview is a digital TV service offering over 30 TV channels for a one off fee and no contract. You may even be able to get it with your current aerial, by getting the suitable digibox or digitally enabled TV (and digital recorder, if necessary). You can combine it with Top UP TV to add a limited range of extra programmes. There will even be a TopUP TV recorder launched soon to allow you to record your favourite programmes. However, at the moment, the service is limited to certain areas. Use our impartial digital TV comparison service to find out if your area is covered.
Regional providers for your digital TV
Tiscali is an internet based digital TV service on trial in London, which allows you to watch popular shows up to seven days after they’ve first been broadcast. As it’s an internet service, you can also get deals on your home phone and broadband, too.
Telewest is a regional cable provider offering a library of popular programmes and films, who can also supply your home phone and broadband in a single bill. If you get their TVDrive rather than their standard digibox, you’ll be able to record your favourite programmes and pause and record live TV, much like you can with Sky +.
