Netflix has renewed its Narcos reboot for a second series. Set in the 1980s, Narcos: Mexico sought to take the series back to its roots.
It stars Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Michael Pena (Ant-Man & The Wasp) as the Mexican drug lord Felix Gallardo and DEA agent Kiki Camarena respectively.
No details have been released, but both actors are expected to reprise their roles.
This will effectively be the fifth series of Narcos. The first three centred on the kingpin Pablo Escobar and the aftermath of his death. The reboot shifted the action from Columbia to Mexico.
There’s no word on when series two will air, though it’s expected sometime in 2019.
Narcos is one of Netflix’s longest-running original series. It’s part of the firm’s massive investment in original content which has helped it gain around 130 million subscribers around the world.
