The next Galaxy Note and Galaxy S smartphone look set to add more quirky tweaks to Samsung’s Nature UX user interface, as the phone-maker continues to run with its natural-world-inspired muse in a bid to differentiate Samsung kits from the Android competition.

Back in May last year, the Galaxy S3 introduced a feature, perhaps best described as an intelligent sleep mode, dubbed Smart Stay. This used the flagship smartphone's front-facing camera to detect owners’ facial movements, with the result that the handset would not go to sleep mid-way through movies just because the screen had not been touched for a while.

According to Sam Mobile, the version of Nature UX that’s likely to sit on board the next-generation of Samsung flagship phones will debut new functions in the same vein called "Eye Scroll" and "Eye Pause", which are aimed at making them more intuitive to use.

Samsung has purportedly patented technology under both names. And although concrete details about what they’ll offer aren’t forthcoming, you don’t have to be an industry analyst to deduce that Eye Pause will probably allow you to pause movies, most likely by averting your eyes from the screen. Or – and we think we’d prefer this - maybe even by winking.

By the same token, we think Eye Scroll will let owners flip through screens sideways or up and down the same screen by moving their eyes in the corresponding direction.

Either way, we’ll find out soon enough, with the S4 expected to be along at some during the end of Q1 at a special press event. The Note 3, meanwhile, is due to tip up towards the end of the year, most likely around October.
