Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 photos surface

Images of a fresh addition to Samsung’s Tab range of tablets have been unearthed, casting doubt on suggestions that the gadget-peddler is about to rebrand all its future tablets as Galaxy Note devices.

Sourced by Phone Arena, the images show a device apparently dubbed the Galaxy Tab 3. That flies in the face of reports that the name Tab, which was attached to some fairly unsuccessful devices in the early days of Android slates, would be replaced in favour of the Note brand that became a household name thanks to Samsung’s multi-million-selling phablets.

The images are, alas, a little too blurry to make sense of what appears to be a spec sheet on the front of the box, but it’s likely that it will be a larger bit of kit than the Note 8.0 tablet that has been making the rounds on tech sites in recent weeks.

Both devices are expected to land at the Mobile World Congress tech expo in Barcelona next month, with the Note 8.0 among the early contenders to steal the show.

New editions of the standard-sized Galaxy Note and the Galaxy S4, meanwhile, are tipped for release at special, one-off press calls later this year.
