Vodafone has cut the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S4, in what’s perhaps the first major price reduction for a handset that’s already sold ten million units since dropping in late April.
The carrier is now offering the 16GB edition of Samsung’s latest flagship phone for free when customers sign up to a two-year contract at £33 per month. Previously, the cheapest Vodafone pay-monthly deal that included a free Galaxy S4 was £42 per month.
So what do you get for that outlay? Well, 600 minutes and 500Mb of data per month, for starters. And there’s unlimited texts too. Although quite how much use anyone makes of the humble SMS in the era of the instant messaging app is another matter.
Of course, you’re also getting what's arguably the handset du jour. One with a feature set that takes in a 13-megapixel camera, a five-inch Super AMOLED HD screen and is 4G ready for when Vodafone launches its super-fast service later this year.
The phone’s real USP’s, however, are its innovative interface features, such as Smart Scroll, which lets you scroll through text by tilting the screen, and the intelligent video pause mode dubbed Smart Stay.
Vodafone’s offer ends June 11th.
