Samsung Galaxy Note 3 could pack 3,450mAh battery

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be powered by an improved battery this time around, it has been claimed, as the under-wraps third-gen phablet gets ready to emerge blinking into the bright lights early next month.

A tipster cited by Phone Arena claims that the handset will be home to a 3,450mAh battery. That’s a ten per cent upgrade from the current model, which offers a 3,100mAh cell.

So what does that mean for users? Well, at least some of the larger battery’s extra juice will be swallowed up by the Note 3’s anticipated larger screen and boost in processing power.

However, the upgrade still ought to result in performance and battery life at least on a par with the Note 2.

Set to debut at the IFA tech trade show in Berlin next month, the Note 3’s feature set is thought to take in 5.7-inch, Full HD display, with a zippy quad-core processor and 13-megapixel camera.

Of course, it’ll also feature Samsung’s Nature UX user interface, most probably over Android 4.2.3 and augmented by some fresh apps tailor-made for use with the Note range’s trademark stylus.

September is also expected to be marked by the arrival of the iPhone 5S / iPhone 6, as well as the low-cost iPhone 5C. And as it that wasn’t enough, there’s the HTC One Max phablet too, marking an extraordinarily busy month in smartphones and ushering in a period of cut-throat competition in the run-up to Christmas.
