Samsung’s first-ever premium-build Galaxy smartphone, the Galaxy Alpha, is now up for pre-order, as the mobile phone market really starts to heat up in the weeks before the arrival of the iPhone 6 in September.
Ahead of the handset’s street-date on September 10th, retailers and networks are taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Alpha with a pledge to deliver on the day of release.
Perhaps the pick of the deals we’ve found is through Carphone Warehouse and is priced £33 per month over 24 months for a monthly allowance of 2GB of data, as well as unlimited texts and data.
What really distinguishes the deal, though, is that Carphone customers who enter the voucher code ‘ALPHAGLX5’ at the point of purchase get the handset free of charge. Without the code, a £50 upfront charge applies.
Trumpeted as the sleekest Samsung Galaxy smartphone ever, the Galaxy Alpha comes in at 6.7-mm thin and features a metal frame and curved, de-luxe design that means Samsung may finally have a device that compares to the HTC One and iPhone for build-quality.
Under the bonnet, the Alpha’s ‘sells’ take in a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED that’s a shade smaller than the Galaxy S5, as well as a 12.1-megapixel rear facing camera with Panorama and Selective Focus modes and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies.
As with other recent top-end Galaxy smartphones, there’s also a Power Saving Mode for eking out your battery life, alongside a Private Mode and fingerprint scanner that team up to keep sensitive data out of the wrong hands.
