Virgin Mobile will support 4G browsing and download speeds from next month, it has been confirmed.
The network currently only offers 4G speeds for business customers, putting it behind a lot of its competitors when it comes to its consumer offering.
From October, that's all change. The MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) – which runs on EE's network – will launch a faster service. Speeds have yet to be confirmed, however.
Business customers can already take advantage of the speeds on the 800MHz, 1,800MHz and 2,600MHz radio spectrum bands.
Details are otherwise a bit scarce and we have no information about tariffs or data allowances right now. Hopefully Virgin will offer some sizeable data packages to let customers really take advantage of the faster speeds.
EE is the UK's largest 4G network, covering 95 per cent of the UK population.
It also claims to be 50 per cent faster than any other UK 4G network. So Virgin customers should be in for a treat.
