Samsung has accidentally confirmed plans for a rugged version of its bestselling Galaxy S8.
The Galaxy S8 Active has been widely touted among tech watchers, but until now there’s been no official news on the device.
However, the Korean tech giant has listed the device on a page for its Samsung Knox security system, revealing the handset’s model number.
While those details don’t give much away, previous leaks have suggested that the phone will feature curved bezels and flat display. The latter stands in marked contrast to the infinity display found on the standard S8, with Samsung making the switch in order to protect the screen from cracking.
It’s also thought that the Galaxy S8 Active will be able to withstand drops from 1.5 metres, as well as offering best–in–class waterproofing and dust resistance.
There’s no word yet on when the Galaxy S8 Active will hit shelves, although it’s likely to be later this summer.
