BT has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer for its Wholesale arm.
Nigel Stagg will step into the role to be vacated by Sally Davis, who has led the group for four years, on September 1st 2011.
BT Chief Executive Ian Livingston commented that Mr Stagg has "a wealth of experience" at the firm and has delivered great results in a number of roles.
Mr Stagg noted that BT Wholesale is "at the heart of BT", underpinning many of the services that businesses and residential users take for granted.
"It is a very large business with revenues of more than £4 billion a year and it supports many of the largest telecoms providers in the UK, including the major mobile companies," he stated.
"The UK has one of the most competitive landscapes anywhere in the world and BT Wholesale has been at the heart of that success supporting other operators both large and small."
BT Wholesale provides network access to a number of UK broadband providers, including TalkTalk, O2 and Sky, which do not own their own telecoms infrastructure.
These companies provide broadband deals to UK customers using BT's telephone exchanges, paying Wholesale for access to the network.
In total, BT's broadband infrastructure is used to deliver broadband services to more than 15 million households across the UK.
