It's a good idea to compare energy regularly to see what the latest prices mean for you, even though there are fewer deals available. Enter your postcode to get started.

The number of people switching their electricity tariff is on the rise as the country comes out of lockdown, according to the latest switching figures.

A new report from Energy UK revealed that 657,000 had switched their electricity supplier in April — the second highest number of monthly switches ever recorded.

More than 2.1 million people have switched their electricity supplier so far in 2021.

The number of monthly energy switches has jumped by 39% since April 2020 when the UK was in the grip of the first coronavirus lockdown. Many more people than that will have run an energy comparison.

Will Owen, energy expert at Uswitch, said: "Suppliers put their prices up after Ofgem increased the price cap on April 1, so it's gratifying that 657,000 energy customers have reacted to a volatile energy market and grabbed the opportunity to switch to a fixed deal."

The cheapest energy deal available through Uswitch today costs £1,056*, which is £82 cheaper than the current price cap level.

"More than a million households also saw their energy deal expire at the end of April, potentially increasing bills by £319 a year."

"It's important for people to know that they can protect themselves from market volatility, and save money, by switching suppliers."
