EE came into being in 2010 when T-Mobile and Orange merged in the UK to form Everything Everywhere. The merger enabled mobile phone customers of the networks to use both networks, thus giving them a stronger, better mobile data connection in more locations across the UK.
In 2012, the company rebranded as EE and launched a 4G network – thus becoming the first UK network to offer the technology. At launch in October this was available in ten cities – Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield.
4G from EE now covers 70% of the UK's population and is set to expand into more rural areas in months to come.
- Customer service
EE employs 11,000 customer service and retail employees across the UK (including those employed by the Orange and T-Mobile brands which have come together under the EE banner and have now been renamed with the EE umbrella brand).
EE claims its service centre teams have over 86 million conversations with customers annually. Subscribers who want to speak directly to an expert at one of the provider’s customer centres can get through to the automated call system and dial 33 to be connected directly to an expert.
The company also operates a service for customers on Twitter and Facebook.

Sign up for a 4G EE mobile broadband deal and you’ll get either a Huawei E392 dongle or a Huawei E5776 or Osprey Mi-Fi. EE also offers a special in-car Mi-Fi called the Buzzard.
All EE home broadband customers are provided with a free router.

EE home broadband subsribers get McAfee security free for one year, including anti-virus and parental controls.
EE broadband customers can save £5 per month by adding mobile phone to the services they take from EE.
Movie fans get use of EE's movie downloads and streaming service Film Store.
