This is also the cheapest energy-only fixed tariff on the market in Britain right now[2]
The 12-month fixed deal from EDF is priced at £1,581 per year for the average household with typical consumption – £347 (18%) less than the current price cap and £109 (6.5%) below April’s cap[3]

A 12-month fixed energy deal from EDF is the cheapest tariff offered to customers of Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service, since October 2021[1].
Costing £1,581 for households with average consumption – £109 (6.5%) cheaper than April’s price cap – this EDF tariff is the cheapest energy-only fixed deal available in Britain[2].
Eligible customers can run an energy comparison at Uswitch.com to receive a detailed forecast of their personal usage and costs to help them understand if the deal is right for them.
While the deal is available to new customers currently with any supplier via Uswitch.com, existing EDF customers can access the same fixed deal directly through the supplier.
EDF customers have rated the well-known supplier ‘Excellent’ on Trustpilot.
Will Owen, energy expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “It’s great to see some competition in the market again, especially from a well-known and highly-rated supplier such as EDF.
“Customers have been under the cosh from sky-high prices for years, so it’s a big step to see tariffs priced lower than the upcoming cap, and the cheapest we’ve seen since late 2021.
“At £1,581 for the average household, this should be worth considering for those wanting to take advantage of falling rates and lock in price certainty for 12 months.
“If you decide to stay put on a standard variable tariff, it’s worth noting you will see your energy costs change every three months in line with the price cap.
“We don't expect this deal to be available for long, and EDF reserves the right to remove the deal at any time. We’re hopeful this will encourage more suppliers to price competitively to finally give customers choice – and financial relief – on their energy bills.”
