UK customers could be getting the LG GT540 Swift soon, after it was spotted as available to pre-order online for £199.99.

The LG Swift is only the second smartphone from the Korean manufacturer to make use of Google's Android platform, although unlike other Android-based smartphones of late, it relies on the older 1.5 version as opposed to the latest 2.1 iteration.

The GT540 made its debut during the Consumer Electronics Show earlier in the year, where it was revealed to sport a three inch touchscreen display and offer Wi-Fi connectivity.

Various social networking sites will be supported out of the box and all the standard Google services, including Maps and Mail, will be ready to go when the phone ships.

The LG GT540 has a fairly unremarkable 3.2 megapixel camera on the back and its multimedia capabilities will presumably include playback for popular files and formats, as well as expandable storage space via microSD card.

People who buy supposedly new phones that run old iterations of Android are going to be very disappointed. Google needs to standardise it soon.
