ZTE has unveiled the Grand Memo, a new smartphone-tablet hybrid, as it bids to challenge Samsungâs hugely popular Galaxy Note range.
Freshly announced this week, the Grand Memo combines the portability of a modern smartphone with the larger viewing experience of a tablet, offering the best of both worlds in whatâs become broadly known as a âphabletâ form factor.
Highlights include a 5.7-inch, high definition (720 x 1280) display, a quad core Qualcomm 800 processor with 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera offering 1080p HD video recording.
Elsewhere, the Memo features a one-megapixel front-facing camera for video conferencing, 16GB of internal storage and a whole host of connectivity options (think: Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA and Mobile High-Definition Link).
It also comes with the latest Android Jelly Bean with ZTEâs custom Mifavor UI layered on top. All this and more is crammed into a slim design that measures an impressive 8.5mm thin.
Whatâs more, the Memoâs Qualcomm chipset also comes with 4G LTE support, meaning itâs capable of surfing the web and downloading content at the super fast speeds offered by the latest network standard.
âThe ZTE Grand Memoâs large, high definition screen makes it perfect for media and entertainment, but its uses reach far beyond that,â saidMr. He Shiyou, ZTE EVP and Head of the Mobile Devices Division.
âWe have really tried to make this device fun for use at home, and practical for use in the office. By combining both of these factors, we have created a well-rounded large-screen handset that is suitable for any situation.â
ZTE has yet to reveal a UK release date for the Grand Memo, but hopefully it wonât be a massively long wait.
Pricing details also under wraps, but expect these to start at around ÂŁ30-35 per month on most pay monthly tariffs.
