HTC could bring as many as 20 new Android mobile phones to market soon, reports suggests.
Speculation over the company’s plans stems from a leaked HTC Sense Android 2.1 ROM that appears to contain codenames for forthcoming handsets.
Among these were what appear to be follow-ups to the hugely successful Hero phone, apparently codenamed HeroCT and HeroC.
The leak comes after last week saw a rash of rumours that HTC’s next Android phone will feature a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor. This is thought to be the Dragon handset named in the ROM.
Mobile manufacturer HTC has been the most enthusiastic adopters of Google’s Android platform, having developed the million-selling T-Mobile G1 as well the budget-priced Tattoo and the Magic.
To capitalise on its transformation from a niche concern to a mass market brand, HTC recently embarked on a high-profile advertising campaign which focuses on the customisation opportunies that their phones offer users.
