The HTC Hero received praise from all quarters on its release earlier this year, but with HTC's line up of Android phones for 2010 under scrutiny, the revelation of new images which seem to show what could be the Hero 2 has excited many observers and fans.
The HTC Legend, which was hinted at in name only last week, has been the subject of unofficial confirmation after the pictures were unleashed to fuel the rumour mill.
On the outside, the brushed metallic body, slim design and trademark Hero-like jaw line are all in keeping with current trends in HTC designs.
The Hero's trackball interface has been ditched in favour of a BlackBerry style trackpad and experts predict that the inclusion of an LED flash for the camera and a more powerful processor are also likely to bolster the Legend's functionality.
The one aspect that is likely to be carried over from the Hero to the Legend is the display technology. Some have decried the continued reliance on the HVGA display whilst other newly announced HTC mobile phones boast somewhat more modern technologies, although the Hero was hardly criticised for its screen.
The Legend is considered to be a marriage between the Android capabilities of the Hero and certain aspects of the various HTC mobiles that currently utilise the Windows Mobile platform. More details are expected to emerge after the upcoming Mobile World Congress event.
