The next version of Microsoft's mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7 Series, could be first brought to the market by South Korean manufacturer LG, according to sources in China.
LG has been allegedly linked to statements that suggest that the firm is planning to launch a smartphone with Windows Phone 7 Series at some point in the closing months of the year, with the possibility of a release as early as September.
The reports appeared on Asian tech site Endgadget Chinese, although Microsoft has only committed to saying that its next OS will be out in time for Christmas, without giving a firm date.
According to LG's UK division, the company "can't confirm any timings for the launch of the phone". However, this does suggest that a new Windows smartphone from the firm is definitely in the works and it will certainly be competing against other manufacturers in order to be the first to offer the operating system when it makes it out of development.
