Network provider Orange has responded to the clamour of piqued HTC Hero-owning customers with the announcement that Android 2.1 would be arriving on the popular smartphone soon.
Orange has allegedly begun the update process already, with the second phase due to commence in the near future.
The HTC Hero has been running on Android 1.5 in the UK for over a year and its manufacturer spent a long time developing the Android 2.1 update, with the first users getting a taste of Google's Eclair in May when it landed in the US.
The first news of Android 2.1's arrival on Orange HTC Heroes has begun to flood in, although it looks like the network has yet to initiate the second vital step in the process, which means there could still be a little bit of a wait until the update is fully activated and ready to enjoy.
