3 has announced that the perpetually delayed Android Froyo update for the HTC Wildfire will be finally landing tomorrow.
The good news was confirmed via 3’s official Twitter feed this morning: “For those of you still awaiting the Wildfire update- it'll be available tomorrow.”
Froyo, which has been relegated to the semi-latest status of Android software updates since the launch of Gingerbread on the Google Nexus S, has been the bane of every mobile operator in the country. The problem lies with ensuring compatibility with custom user interfaces on a slew of devices, especially the Wildfire, which has been at the queue longer than even the most polite Brit would tolerate.
So what’s all the hoopla about Froyo? Well Flash player support for starters, plus Wi-Fi and USB tethering to transform the Wildfire into a mobile broadband dongle and a flurry of performance improvements for an all-round delicious experience. Unfortunately, no HD video recording here, which is most likely due to limitations with the ageing Wildfire.
Excited about the update? Tell us all about it in the comments section below.
