The newest iteration of Android for smartphones will hit the HTC Desire range in late April or early May, a tweet from 3 suggests.
Prior to today, HTC had told us only that the OS update to Gingerbread would be ready for the Desire HD, Desire Z and the original Desire at some stage during the second quarter of the year.
That could have meant a wait until the end of June – some six months after the latest version of Google’s software for smartphones debuted on the Nexus S.
However, a Twitter post from 3 indicates that we should get it a lot sooner. If you’re on their network, that is.
Responding to a customer query from Desire owner gadgetboy75 for a date for the update, 3 stated: “The 2.3 update is expected end of April/Start of May.”
The update, which adds features such as better gaming capabilities and a new-look UI, is also expected to reach the recently released Incredible S.
