HTC has not been resting on its laurels since its landmark acquisition of Beats by Dr Dre, trademark filings for at least two new products suggest.
The Taiwanese giant has submitted four trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office, for HTC Enamor and HTC Rhyme, hinting at possible names for handsets, tablets or even software, powered by the world-conquering audio tech.
Currently, the only handset believed to come with Beats on board is the HTC Vigor, although that’s looking increasingly likely to be a US-only release.
Whatever HTC decides to do with the trademarks, it will have to act fast with the launch of the iPhone 5 looming ever closer and Samsung pacing ahead as the leading Android manufacturer.
Beats may just be the cutting-edge advantage the company needs to put it back into contention for the title of go-to brand for Android.
