HTC’s latest Android effort, the Vigor, has been sighted on a Dutch retailer’s website, adding credence to rumours that it might be launching in the UK after all.
Initially thought as a US-only successor to the Thunderbolt, the Vigor now appears Europe-bound if a product listing of the handset (which has since been pulled) is to be believed.
Powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor (just when you thought these chips couldn’t get any faster), the Vigor is home to a 4.3-inch display (presumably with an HD resolution) and is the first device to feature music mogul Dr Dre’s Beats audio technology, which HTC bought majority stake in just last week.
Of course, it’s possible that this was just a mistake on the site’s part, so we wouldn’t recommend you get your hopes up just now. But with Google’s landmark buyout of US phone-maker Motorola and Samsung changing the lay of the land for Android partners, HTC will be more pressurised from now to bring out its big guns on both sides of the pond.
So who knows, may be we’ll get our hands on the Vigor sooner or later. Most likely under a different name, though.
