Android Ice Cream Sandwich confirmed for Motorola Razr

Motorola Razr buyers can look forward to an OS bump to Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) soon, the US phone-maker has confirmed.

Alain Mutricy, senior vice president of portfolio and product management at Moto, has revealed the latest, tastiest version of Google’s smartphone platform is slated to be pushed to the Razr at the “start of 2012”.

The news goes some way towards allaying the disappointment that the phone, which Moto unveiled this week, will ship with the soon-to-be superannuated Gingerbread version of Android out of the box.

ICS, showcased properly to the world on Wednesday at a press event for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, blends the best features of the tablet-optimised Honeycomb iteration of Android with Gingerbread.

Sweeteners it will bring to the Razr take in a revamped and rather impressive new multi-tasking interface with slicker notifications and widgets, as well as fresh takes on native apps.
