HTC Golf cheap Android phone unveiled, HTC Titan phased out

HTC is prepping a new budget Android phone in the lineage of the likes of the ground-breaking Magic – the first-ever Android PAYG kit, fact fans! – and the decidedly less impactful Explorer.

According to PocketNow, which was tipped off by a source, the phone is dubbed the Golf and will feature a lowish-grade spec sheet that takes in a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen and 4GB of on board storage.

A processor that ticks in under the 1GHz mark is also purportedly present and correct, as is a microSD card slot and the latest Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android.

News of the handset, solid pictorial evidence of which has yet to emerge, comes as HTC is reportedly phasing out the Titan, some five months after it heralded a wave of Mango-powered Windows phones.

The phone, which is though to have sold in relatively small numbers, is now no longer listed on a number of retailers’ sites, including Carphone Warehouse, and has done a disappearing act from networks’ handset pages too.

HTC has yet to make an announcement as to whether the phone is being discontinued.
