The frustratingly long wait for LG Optimus 2X owners to make the leap to Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is set to get even longer, LG Mobile Singapore has confirmed.
Responding to a customer query on Facebook about the update’s ETA, the phone-maker revealed ICS will be rolled out to the Optimus 2X in Q3, despite previously stating it would be available in the second quarter.
A reason for the delay was not given. However, considering the 2X holds a Guinness World Record for being the first smartphone to use a dual core processor, which should be more than capable of powering the latest OS iteration, the wait seems almost unmerited for the early adopters.
Fortunately, owners of more recent LG kits, such as the Prada 3.0 and the Optimus Sol, are still on course to receive ICS in the second quarter.
