Students opting for a NatWest account will be offered a £50 discount on 3 mobile broadband services.

The offer, part of the 2008 student package, aims to provide university-goers with useful extras that make keeping in touch easier.

Customers will also be entitled to a £100 discount on an Asus laptop, in addition to a Microsoft Lifecam for those who sign up online before October 31st.

Mark Worthington, head of NatWest student and graduate banking, said: "The NatWest 2008 student package has evolved in response to what students have told us really matters to them."

Earlier this month, 3 launched mobile broadband starter kits for pay as you go customers, allowing them to purchase a dongle with a pre-loaded data allowance which is valid for a set period.

The three-month package, which offers 3GB of downloads, is available for £69.

Once the pre-paid period is over, users can top up online or instore to carry on surfing.
