Computer manufacturer Acer's Stream Android phone will go on sale on August 9th, it has been confirmed.

Initially the handset will be available solely at online retailer Expansys and will be priced around £399 - a price tag it more than justifies with an array of impressive specs.

These include a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen that sounds like it has been transplanted straight from the HTC Desire and the ability to shoot high definition video clips with its five megapixel camera - matching the iPhone 4's 720p capture function.

Also among the Streak's standout features are a 1GHz processor and 2GB of space for data and media, which should be more than enough to make Android 2.1 run smoothly, Wi-Fi and a number of applications to support social networking.

Nice try and cool spec sheet. But this is destined to be niche. If ppl want Android they get HTC or Samsung. Acer seems like a boring computer brand to most folks.
