EE has boosted 4G data allowances on smartphone tariffs, in a fresh drive for customers before the arrival of competing next-gen network services later this year.

Customers who sign up online for select smartphone contracts between July 17th and October 30th qualify for the offer, which sees the monthly data allowance on EE’s £26 per month doubled from 500MB to 1GB.

For the duration of the promo, EE’s £51 per month contract, meanwhile, will see the mobile internet usage subscribers are allowed go from 5GB to a whopping 20GB.

Handsets included in the time-limited promo include the iPhone 5, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and the BlackBerry Q5.

EE, which is currently the UK’s sole 4G network recently announced it is doubling 4G speeds in 12 cities, a move that’s surely also part of its plan to capitalise on the lead it has over other carriers.

According to the provider, this will boost average connection speeds to between 24Mbps and 30Mbps in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Nottingham and Sheffield.
