Uswitch comments on Disney+ new ad-supported tiers

Ernest Doku, Uswitch Telecoms Expert comments - “Disney+ is following the industry trend and has made the big move to ad-supported subscription options. At a time when subscriber levels in streaming are reaching a plateau, these ad-supported tiers are a smart move - offering a more accessible entry point for consumers while increasing potential streams of revenue for the business.  

“However, it’s important that consumers consider the potential trade-offs of these lower-cost options. The 'Standard with Ads' plan, priced at £4.99, may seem like a tempting choice, but it does come with some limitations.

“Subscribers will experience lower video quality, miss out on offline playback, and tolerate around four minutes of adverts per hour of viewing. These factors might push some viewers to consider upgrading to the ad-free plans.

“In a fiercely competitive industry, content quality alone is no longer enough to keep subscribers. Disney+ is taking a step towards offering a range of plans to cater to different needs and budgets - a sign of what's to come in the streaming landscape.”
