CES 2010: Android-based Dell Mini 3i UK-bound

A spokesperson for Dell said that the new Mini 3i smartphone will be heading to the UK soon because it had been created specifically for our native mobile phone marketplace.

The Mini 3i has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and is powered by Google's Android operating platform which has been overlaid with Dell's own customised user interface.

A three megapixel camera, Bluetooth, GPS and presumably 3G networking will also be integrated into the Mini 3i.

Press photographs from this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) show the Mini 3i with a Spongebob Squarepants screensaver running, which suggests that perhaps the mobile phone will be aimed at the youth market when it arrives, although it packs a bit more power than the average teen-targeted messaging phone.

While Dell was happy to confirm that the Mini 3i would definitely be headed for Europe and more specifically the UK, it was not ready to reveal when this was likely to happen or indeed which networks might offer the smartphone.
