Galaxy S Android 2.2 update landing September

Android 2.2 will be coming to the popular Samsung Galaxy S smartphone in two months time, it has been announced.

Samsung's UK team broke the news of the update via its Twitter account, informing followers that it is currently "in development and will be released for all networks at the end of September".

There are various network providers that support the Galaxy S in the UK and it is likely that they will be working with Samsung to develop their own versions of the Android 2.2 update before the launch, with distribution presumably handled over the air.

The latest Android iteration will bring a number of new features to the handset, including native support for Flash 10.1 to make the online experience it offers much more engaging and flexible.

The Galaxy S is Samsung's best-selling popular Android smartphone of 2010, with its high end features and excellent software support making it a favourite of those seeking an alternative to the iPhone or the HTC Desire.
