Angry Birds for Android phones is now between just two to three weeks away from release, its developers have revealed.
A spokesperson for Rovio revealed the schedule for launch in an interview with TalkAndroid in which he also promises that the title “will offer best game experience for as many people as possible”.
Select levels of the game are available to download and play now from the Android Market for free, provided phone owners have a handset that runs the 2.1 version of Google’s operating system.
The game will also require that owners have a handset with a VGA screen.
The Apple smartphone edition of Angry Birds has proved one the biggest selling iPhone games ever, with around seven million downloads.
Its phenomenal success is soon to spawn a series of spin offs, including an animated movie and some collectable toys.
Gaming on Android has up until now lagged behind the iPhone. However, the arrival of this casual blockbuster along with rumours that id Software planning to bring Rage to Android suggest that that could be about to change very soon.
