TalkTalk has fired a broadside at rival UK broadband and TV providers with what it claims is the best-value TV package on the market.

Dubbed Essentials TV and priced £7.50 per month over an 18-month contract, the offer includes a free YouView box with on-demand and seven-day catch-up TV services. Subscribers also get over 70 Freeview channels and the option to add more channels, including content from Sky and BT

As with rival set top boxes, YouView features the option to rewind and pause live TV too.

The broadband facet of the package includes unlimited usage with connection speeds of up to 16Mbps, plus a free router and free connection. Free evening and weekend calls are provided too.

TalkTalk’s Plus TV package, which features its top-end YouView box that’s capable of recording TV plus broadband and calls, is currently being promoted with a money-off offer.

Ordinarily £15.50 per month, it’s now £10 per month for six months and includes free install, a free router and unlimited anytime calls.
