Amazon has obtained the UK rights to 'Constantine', a live-action drama based on 'Hellblazer', the DC Comics series of comic books.

The series stars Matt Ryan ('Criminal Minds', 'Vikings') as John Constantine, a former-demon hunter who's struggling with his faith and is forced to defend humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.

It also stars Charles Halford ('Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'), Harold Perrineau ('Newsreaders'), and Angelica Celaya ('Dallas').

Amazon Prime Instant Video subscribers can already watch episode one. Subsequent episodes will become available on the service following their US premiere on NBC.

"'Constantine' is a great addition to the catalogue of spooky TV shows and frightening films already made available for unlimited streaming during our Halloween takeover, featuring alongside classics like 'The Craft' and 'An American Werewolf in London' and contemporary favourites like 'Warm Bodies'," said Chris Bird, director of content strategy at Amazon Instant Video.
