The BBC has brought its iPlayer catch-up service to the Xbox One.

The service has the same look and feel as on connected TVs, YouView, streaming devices and Blu-ray players.

As on the Xbox 360 version, it has voice control and motion controls using Kinect.

To download the iPlayer app, sign in to Xbox Live and search the Xbox Store. The app is free to download and to use.

In the same blog post, Peter Lasko, technical product manager for BBC iPlayer on TV also announced the Beeb will update its existing iPlayer app for the Xbox 360 in the New Year. This will allow programmes to be available for 30 days, and will let you find new channel content from Radio 1 and S4C.

The BBC has also extended the watch window for shows downloaded to PCs, mobiles and tablets from seven days to 30.

"TV is undoubtedly king at Christmas – and the arrival of BBC iPlayer on Xbox One gives viewers even more choice on how they watch," BBC iPlayer boss Dan Taylor-Watt said in a statement.

"30 day downloads arrives just in time for those unwrapping new devices, perfect for catching up on the bumper Christmas schedule."
