Virgin Media is adding 10 international channels to its roster. They are from all over the globe, including Pakistan, Nigeria, Tunisia, Spain and Ukraine.
HUM Europe brings a range of Pakistani dramas, soap operas and entertainment shows, while Nollywood Movies is the first 24-hour movie channel dedicated to showing Nigerian films. The latter shows more than 35 different films every month, with a daily premiere at 7pm.
As well as films, it shows popular African soap 'Tinsel', entertainment news, celebrity interviews and red carpet events. Popular African series 'Windeck' and new soap 'Calabash' will join the channel in January.
The other eight channels come through Worldbox, a new app that livestreams them. The first four are Ukrainian entertainment channel 1+1 International, Tunisian entertainment channel Nessma, Portugese entertainment channel Sic International, and Spanish news channel Canal 24 Horas.
Another four channels will come to the app in January. These are: EuroChannel (a French entertainment channel), BFM TV (a French news channel), Ukraine today (a Ukrainian news channel) and CTC (a Russian entertainment channel).
Worldbox is available to customers with an M+ TV package or above.
"The arrival of these international channels on Virgin Media means our TV customers can enjoy even more exciting programming from around the world at the touch of a button," Stephane David, Virgin Media's executive director of content, said in a statement.
