Comedy series 'Catastrophe' will come to Amazon Prime Instant Video later this year, Amazon has announced. It's currently airing on Channel 4.

It will also be available in the US, where it will be exclusive to Amazon.

Written by and starring comedians Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan, it sees an American man and an Irish woman "make a bloody mess as they struggle to fall in love in London", according to the official blurb.

Their brief affair results in an unwanted pregnancy. Delaney's character decides to move to the UK to be the boyfriend and father the child. As is usually the way, things don't go smoothly.

Horgan and Delaney play characters named after themselves (Sharon and Rob).

Carrie Fisher, Ashley Jensen and Mark Bonnar also have supporting roles.

"Rob and Sharon have created an engaging, contemporary, funny and moving story," Roy Price, Amazon Studios vice president, said in a statement. "We are excited to bring 'Catastrophe' exclusively to our Amazon Prime customers, and can't wait to hear what they think of the series."

Only two episodes have aired on terrestrial TV. Channel 4 has already commissioned a second series.
