The HBO Now streaming service is now available on the Amazon Fire TV set-top box and Amazon Fire TV Stick streaming dongle.

HBO Now was originally only available to Apple users through the Apple TV set-top box. As well as being on Amazon's devices, it's available to Android users using the Chromecast dongle.

At the moment, HBO Now is only available in the US. There's no word on when it might reach these shores.

It gives viewers access to the full HBO back catalogue, including such hit shows as 'Game of Thrones', 'True Detective' and 'The Sopranos'. It costs $14.99 a month.

The big draw is that you don't have to shell out for a pricey cable subscription, which you usually would to watch HBO.

Streaming is on the rise in the UK. Recent figures showed that Netflix is much more popular than its rival Amazon Prime Instant Video.

It's also changing how we watch regular TV. Both Sky and the BBC recently unveiled ways to start watching at the start of a film or TV show if you tune in halfway through.
