haye day dave

You might not know it, but lad channel Dave is moving more into sport – it's shown the BDO World Trophy darts live, and it exclusively broadcast David Haye's comeback fight. And now it's looking to expand its sporting coverage.

Steve North, the channel's general manager, told Radio Times that the channel is in talks to land a "big live contract" later in the year.

He wouldn't be drawn on which sport it was, but added: "We are actively looking at a couple of sporting opportunities. We see live sport as an increasingly important part of the channel's output."

Dave was once seen as the dumping ground for repeats of classic British sitcoms, but in recent years has been ploughing its own furrow. With original shows like 'Dave Gorman's Modern Life is Goodish' and 'Hoff the Record', not to mention the new generation of 'Red Dwarf' series, it has plenty to offer that you won't have seen before.

Odds are these sporting opportunities will appeal to Dave's blokey viewership, so don't expect dressage or ice skating.
