Is there no stopping Ed Sheeran? Just days after his new album has conquered the charts, it's been announced that he'll make a cameo in one of the world's biggest TV shows, 'Game of Thrones'.

Showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff confirmed the news at music and tech festival South by Southwest (SXSW).

Sheeran was reportedly booked as a surprise for Maisie Williams (who plays Arya Stark in the show, and is a big fan of the chart-dominating Yorkshireman ).

Sheeran will guest star in the seventh series, which is due to start on 17th July here in the UK.

Previous musicians to make guest appearances on the show include Coldplay drummer Will Champion, Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody and post-rock band Sigur Ros. All their appearances have been blink-and-you'll-miss-them, so don't expect Sheeran to have too big a part.

Series seven of the show will only feature seven episodes, which is three fewer than previous series. It was also confirmed at SXSW that the eighth and final series will only comprise six episodes.
