Google Play Movies & TV can now help you find something to watch - even if it's not offered by Google.

The service now scours all manner of TV and film streaming services when you search, helping you track down whatever it is you want to watch.

The aim is to make it your first port of call when you want to watch something online.

The service supports all kinds of streaming apps, but not Netflix. Supported services include ABC, CBS, Fox Now, NBC, Hulu, HBO Now, HBO Go, Showtime, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Now, HGTV, Bet Now and Comedy Central.

It also lets you filter search results by genre, rate shows and films and save them to watch later.

Google said it wants to help users navigate the many streaming services available.

"With so many different streaming apps out there, it's not only challenging to figure out what to watch, but where and how to watch it," th firm wrote.

"For example, just search for 'This is Us' and you'll see that the latest season is for sale on Play Movies & TV, but also that it's available to stream on the NBC app (with a cable subscription) or on Hulu."
