Voice and data communications provider Entanet is to improve its service in the West Midlands, it has been revealed.

The company is upgrading its capabilities in readiness for the imposition of BT's 21st Century Network.

Investment is being made to ensure that Ethernet First Mile services at speeds of up to 100Mbps are afforded to customers in the Birmingham and Wolverhampton areas, a scenario achievable through the use of unbundled copper lines from Openreach.

According to James Blessing, chief operating officer at Entanet, by providing businesses with a higher speed service Entanet will help them to reduce costs.

"For businesses whose operations are heavily dependent on reliable connectivity between central and regional offices, uncontended connectivity solutions make commercial and technical common sense," he commented.

"They make the network a reliable platform for the running of critical business applications such as Citrix, terminal services and Voice over IP and provide continuous and fast internet access."
