Fans of the Samsung Galaxy S will be pleased to hear that plans are going ahead to bring Android 2.2 to the smartphone in the form of an update.

The Galaxy S is the cream of Samsung's Android-based crop, with its four inch Super AMOLED screen and high definition video capture capabilities.

The Galaxy S will feature Android 2.1 upon its launch, but before 2010 is out Samsung is set to release an update to bring it in line with version 2.2 of Google's operating system.

Samsung's Luke Lee has allegedly confirmed that the update is definitely going ahead, but nothing more specific could be said at this time, according to CNET Asia.

Several Android mobiles are now set to get Android 2.2 in the coming months, with Google's own Nexus One already reported to be the first to have made the leap.

HTC is planning an update for its best-selling Desire which could arrive next month, with more mobiles to follow.

Samsung has stolen a massive march on HTC with this. But should give the phone a new name. There's too many Galaxy iterations already.

Compared to my iPhone this 'SGS' (Samsun Galaxy S) is far... far... better in screen size, text keying operations (twin mode) and video calls performance.

It's also very lightweight offers good screen clarity, plus of course pre-installed google apps and it's upgradable to Android 2.2 (waiting for Adobe enabled operations) etc...
